Perfect Pieces

Strolling along the street the other day with my daughter Hayley, we came upon a beautiful looking house with a board out the front announcing it was for sale.  There were two real estate agents on the verandah and a few people wandering in so we decided to join them and take a look.

I find this a great source of inspiration and love to see how other people decorate their homes.

Upon entering it was apparent this home was beautifully decorated in the french provincial style.  All the pieces blended perfectly to create a warm french country feel.  There was a tea service and sweet little bird set up on the kitchen table that looked so welcoming,  I immediately had to photograph and instagram it.  In the loungeroom there were some carefully placed cards on a ceramic dish with Perfect Pieces printed in white on a brown background.  It dawned on me then, the house had been styled throughout with pieces from this french, rustic homewares store I love and have frequented often.

So on the weekend, in the searing 40 degree heat, I escaped our house to the comfort of the air conditioned Hawthorn store.  My breath was taken away the moment I walked in, I love this style of decorating it’s very farmhouse home..relaxed and warm.  I was transported to a beautiful spring day in Provence, sitting at a long table in the garden with big white market umbrellas; the table is set with this style of crockery, cutlery and glassware on top of a raw linen tablecloth.  I’m sipping a drink waiting for lunch and lavender scents the air…

Perfect Pieces sell a range of homewares, furniture and gifts, it’s a store you’ll be inspired browsing.

One of my favourites were these ceramic pots and bowls, in particular the acqua colour.

If you’d like to visit Perfect Pieces, they have a few stores in Melbourne,  Armadale at 731 High Street and Hawthorn at 131 Auburn Road.  The hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.

They also have a warehouse outlet in Dandenong at 7 Bungaleen Court.  Hours for the warehouse are Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm.

    Beautiful photos Catherine. I love this shop- its actually one of my favourites in Melbourne, although I haven't been there for a few years. My last purchase there was a gorgeous lamp which I get lots of compliments for…must go back soon x

    I think if you were to ask me if I liked French Country as a design style, I'd say no, but this isn't that exactly is it? It's more French Rustic, I guess. Farmhouse rather than fussy house! I love the rustic, rough hewn elements and the limited color palette. No wonder you fell in love!

    Gorgeous shop and style and yes, I imagine this to be very you…

    I had to laugh out loud. You can tell that the Melbourne property market ain't LONDON! Here, you cannot just stroll in coz you fancy a look around and saw some agents on a verandah. hahaha! very different indeed!

    Thanks for sharing lovely xx

    @Lauren glad you liked it.
    @Lizzy it's gorgeous isn't it.
    @Di there's a store in Armadale and Hawthorn if you're ever over this side of town Di.
    @Tina that's so funny, sounds like London property inspections are fairly formal.
    @Anastasia me too, love it.
    @e/digin if I ever visit Tasmania one day I'd love to check out that store, sounds gorgeous.
