As you know I’m starting my own online homewares business that will centre on entertaining and beautiful things for your home. I’m launching early October and am off to Japan and Hong Kong soon for a holiday but will be keeping an eye out for gorgeous things for the store.
When I get back (late July) I’ll be posting a competition for you to have the chance of winning something fab I found on the trip…very exciting for me as I’ve always dreamed of running my own business doing something creative but nothings clicked over the years till now! I’ll be posting photos from my trip so stay tuned…can’t wait to share it with you.>
Just wanted to give you the heads up about a fantastic ebook I’ve just purchased called “Love Your Photos”.
Photography is something I’ve been wanting to learn more about for a long time and now is a perfect opportunity so I can take great photos of all the things that will be in my homeware store. Anyway it’s something that’s always confused me fstops, apertures, exposure!!! until now.
The ebook is by Jen Consalvo and her blog is a photographic journey to loving your photos.
I’ve just started reading it but already I have a list of things to look for when buying my first camera and she has made all the basics really easy to understand. Jen has made me so excited so today I’m going to check out a few camera stores and see what’s on offer…can’t wait to get started taking lots of pics in Japan and Hong Kong.
I’m off now for coffee and to find some decent shoes to take overseas that are comfortable to walk without getting blisters!…Have a great weekend whatever you’re doing, enjoy every moment, the weathers great.
I know alot of you like to travel so I thought I’d share a bit about my up and coming trip to Japan and Hong Kong.
I’ll be starting the trip in Osaka which the guide book says is a foodie city where people are very social and like to enjoy themselves…apparently there is also a street that is crammed full of kitchenware shops with everything related to Japanese cooking…can’t wait for that!
Other cities I’ll be visiting will be Hiroshima and Kyoto..I’m hoping to see lots of beautiful Japanese ladies dressed in traditional costume in Kyoto as well as some Geisha’s if I’m lucky.
I’ll be travelling between cities on the super fast bullet train and the last stop will be Tokyo.
One of the things I want to do there is have a drink at The New York Bar in the Park Hyatt Hotel Tokyo.
Scarlett Johanssen and Bill Murray spend alot of time there in the movie Lost In Translation and the atmosphere, dim lighting as well as the amazing views make it a place worth visiting for a drink after a long day pounding the tourist pavement!
Other areas I’m looking forward to visiting are Harajuku and Shibuya and frequenting restaurants and cafes where the locals eat.
My trip also includes a stop in Hong Kong on the way back so look forward to sharing about this soon.
I’ll have my eyes peeled for beautiful items for my Farmhouse Home online store and you’ll have the chance to enter a great giveaway of something I’ve found on the trip.
I’d love to hear about your travel experiences. Where have you enjoyed visiting the most? Have you been to Japan before? Any recommendations of what I should do there? Look forward to hearing from you.
Megan from The Stockport Hotel has done a post about designing my blog and other blogs including her mothers gorgeous blog Frances Lee Studio (love the watercolour background) today and how much she enjoys the process.
If you’re looking for a blog redesign or are just starting a blog and need a hand designing it I can’t recommend Megan highly enough, she is wonderful to deal with and completed mine very quickly.
The other thing I wanted to tell you about is the latest issue of The Party Dress online magazine out now.
It’s full of great entertaining and styling ideas, there is a beautiful Summer Ladies lunch styled in navy and pink on page 29 which is very vibrant and lovely.
Today I’m unveiling my new Farmhouse Home blog which was designed by Megan from The Stockport Hotel.
I hope you like it…you’ll notice there is a link to SHOP that’s because I’m taking the big, scary step of fulfilling a long held dream to own and run my own business. I’ve always wanted to and have tried lots of things over the years but nothing has clicked until now.
I’m planning on launching my homeware store in late September, early October after the Gift Fairs here in Melbourne in August. I’m so excited and am busy sourcing all my beautiful things for the store with a trip to Japan and Hong Kong coming up in a few weeks… it’s really a family holiday but I’ll have my eyes open for different things I think you might like.
I will be focusing my products on entertaining…and will be posting some delicious recipes and simple table styling ideas you can use for impromptu gatherings or when you have family and friends for a special occasion.
I have also started a “Places You Will Love” area on the right which is cafes, restaurants, florists etc. that I have loved and know you will enjoy checking out.
I look forward to getting to know you better, comments make my day so don’t hesitate to leave any thoughts or email me if there is something you would like me to stock, just click on CONTACT.
I’ll leave you with a manifesto from Women In Business that inspired me when I started this journey and I hope will inspire you to take that first step on whatever your dream is.
